How I handle your information

If you send me a message through the contact form, I collect the name you give me, your email address, the reason you chose (for example a consultation), whatever you write in the message itself, and whether you ticked that you’d like to ask about a concession. That’s all the form asks for.

I use it for one thing only: to read what you’ve said and reply to you. I don’t use it for marketing, I don’t add you to a mailing list, and I don’t sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

I ask you on the contact page not to include detailed personal or health information in a first message. That’s deliberate. Information about health, mental health or substance use counts as “special category” information under UK data protection law and deserves more care than an ordinary web form gives it. If you do include such details, I’ll treat them as confidential, but the less that travels through a web form, the better for you.

Your message is emailed to me at contact@mentalmatriarch.org by this website. There is no separate form company. The site is hosted with Namecheap, and the email is delivered through Namecheap Private Email. Those companies will handle the message as part of sending it, in the ordinary way email works.

My intention is to keep messages only as long as there’s a reason to — while we’re in conversation, and for a sensible period afterwards in case you come back — and then delete them.

You can ask me at any time to:

• Tell you what information about you I hold
• Give you a copy of it
• Correct anything that’s wrong
• Delete it — you don’t have to give a reason
• Stop using it while we sort something out

Just ask, and I’ll do it. There’s no extra form to fill in and no charge. If my email or hosting still holds a copy as part of ordinary delivery, I’ll delete the copy I hold and ask them to as well where I can.

You can ask by emailing contact@mentalmatriarch.org or through the contact page. If you’re ever unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, you have the right to complain to the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab). I’d rather you told me first so I can put it right, but that’s entirely your choice.

This website sets no cookies of its own, and there’s no analytics or advertising tracking on it. The only thing it fetches from elsewhere is the two lettering styles it uses, which come from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google to collect those.

If you use the Translate control, that opens Google Translate. Google will then see the page address and the page content. Chrome or Edge can also translate from the address bar, if you prefer that.

If a shop is added later, that will involve the company providing it, and this page will be updated to say so.
