Peer support, held online

Services

I offer consultations, one-to-one and group peer support for people who are neurodivergent, and for people living with addiction, mental health difficulties or trauma — and for the families and parents alongside them. There’s no rush and no pressure here: have a read, and get in touch if and when it feels right.

What this is, and what it isn’t

Everything I offer is peer support. It grows out of my own family’s lived experience and the training I’ve done, and it means sitting alongside you as someone who has been through a fair bit of this herself.

It is not therapy, counselling, treatment or diagnosis. I’m not a clinician, a therapist or a counsellor, I’m not registered or accredited with any professional body, and I don’t provide medical care of any kind. What I offer works best alongside NHS or other professional support, not instead of it.

This also isn’t a crisis service. If you need help urgently, the free lines further down this page are there any time, day or night.

Held online, wherever you are

All my consultations, one-to-one and group support are held online. There are no in-person sessions, no home visits and no venue to travel to.

The happy side of that is reach: although I live in Somerset, I’m not limited to working with people nearby. Wherever you are, if we can get online together, we can talk.

Being at home in your own space can make a real difference, especially if leaving the house is hard going, or if a waiting room is the last place you want to be.

How I can help

Consultation

Paid

An introductory conversation — a first chat to see whether peer support feels like a fit, or a one-off consult if that is all you need. It is still peer support, not a clinical assessment, therapy, counselling or a diagnosis.

Held online. A consultation is £55 for the hour. I need a little information ahead of time, and reading that is extra work on my side, so the fee is for the hour we meet and the time I spend reading what you send beforehand.

If you’d like one, use the contact form and choose Book a consultation. Share a little of what you’d like help with if you can — the message box is enough. I may send a few questions before we meet.

If money is tight, a lower fee can be available. It varies depending on income; I’ll agree it with you discreetly. Just mention it when you get in touch, or tick the box on the form.

One-to-one support

Paid

Time set aside for just you, at whatever pace suits. Some people want to talk something through, some want to make sense of a diagnosis or an assessment, some want help thinking about how to approach a service, and some simply want to be heard by someone who won’t be startled by any of it.

This might be a fit if you’re:

  • Neurodivergent — autistic, ADHD, a PDA profile, or still working out where you sit
  • Living with distressing voices or other mental health difficulties
  • Using substances, thinking about change, or somewhere in recovery
  • Carrying trauma and wanting a steady, unhurried place to be
  • A parent or family member trying to hold it all together

What I bring to it is training in peer support and advocacy, Level 2 Understanding Autism, three levels of training in working with voices, and training in harm reduction, safer injecting, overdose prevention, relapse prevention and motivational interviewing — plus years of living alongside much of this at home. You can see the full list of my training if you’d find that useful.

Group support

Paid

Smaller groups, held online, for people who find it helps to be around others who understand without much explaining. There’s never any obligation to speak — listening is taking part too, and turning up quietly is absolutely fine.

My background here includes training in group work skills, introduction to youth work and training for trainers, as well as peer support. Groups can be for people with shared experiences, or for parents and family members who need their own space.

The fee depends on how many people are in the group. I’ll confirm it when you enquire — it isn’t a flat hourly fee like the consultation.

Guides, seminars and resources

I’m putting together written guides, and offering the same material through online seminars and sessions. Alongside those, there’s a growing set of free signposting to other organisations and to NHS services.

Have a look at the resources page.

About cost

I want to be straightforward about this rather than leave you guessing: consultations, one-to-one support and group support are paid services.

A consultation is £55 for the hour. That covers the hour we meet and the time I spend reading what you send beforehand, because I need a little information ahead of time.

I’m still finalising rates for ongoing one-to-one support. If you’d like to know where things stand, do get in touch and I’ll confirm when you enquire.

For group support, the fee depends on how many people are in the group. I’ll confirm it when you enquire.

If money is tight, a concessionary rate can be available. It varies depending on income; I decide it discreetly, and we agree a fee together. You can mention it when you get in touch, or tick the box on the form. There’s nothing to apply for and you don’t need to send documents.

The free crisis lines below, and the signposting on the resources page, are nothing to do with my paid work — they cost nothing and you never need to come through me to use them.

If you need help right now

Free · not via me

I’m not able to offer urgent or crisis help, but these people can, and they’re there around the clock. All of them are free, and none of them go through me or cost you anything.

If you’d like to talk

There’s no deadline and nothing to sign up to. Whenever you’re ready, you’re welcome to ask for a consultation or send me a message about something else. If you’d rather read for a while first, that’s completely fine too.
